FirstMile a Rakuten Company

March 26, 2019

Dear FirstMile Customers,

First, on behalf of our company, employees and myself, I would like to thank you for the trust you place in us each day. We recognize that getting your products to your customers is a vital part of your business and we do not take that responsibility lightly.

It was recently announced that in an effort to improve and grow our infrastructure and capacity, FirstMile was acquired by one of the world’s most dynamic and exciting companies--Rakuten.  So, I wanted to make sure we communicated what, if any, impact this has on our customers.

What does this mean for our customers?

There are no immediate changes for you. There will be new opportunities and products coming in the future that we will communicate with you, but there are no changes to our existing products, pricing, billing or any other function of our business at this time. This acquisition will provide the resources necessary to grow and improve our network and ability to better serve our customers both around the United States and the globe as we move forward into the future of ecommerce logistics.

What does this mean for FirstMile employees?

There will be no changes to any of our executive team or employees. The purpose of the acquisition is to assist FirstMile in its growth and scale as an eCommerce fulfillment provider. This means there are no personnel changes due to the acquisition other than we will be hiring more people to assist in the increased growth and development of FirstMile.

What are the immediate and long-term changes?

There will be no immediate changes; however, infrastructure will grow immediately. We have already begun the process of adding FirstMile hubs in 4-7 new cities around the US by the end of 2019. By the end of 2021 FirstMile plans to be operating out of the top 25 US cities. Over this time, you will see improvements in our products and ability to stay ahead of the demand for quicker and cheaper shipping!

Please feel free to reach out to your account rep or our support team with any questions or concerns. You are also free to email me personally with any questions or concerns.

Thank you again for the trust you place in us.
