With 2.3 million customers and 40,000 to 60,000 new power meters deployed each year, the folks who manage logistics for Georgia Power have an important job.  According to Linda Mahone, Georgia Power’s Network Manager and Director of IT, “Their collective efforts just got a serious boost from First Mile’s recently deployed 20 Mbps Ethernet connection”.

 According to Bill Thompson, Georgia Power’s Customer Field Operations Group, First Mile’s solution was introduced into Georgia Power’s network in order to speed up their proprietary Automated Route Control System (ARCS).  Since deployment, “the system used to take forever to come up and often ran very sluggishly, now it’s as if we’re on over drive”.
